The Sound of Inverter Driven Synchronous Machines
Webinar Series: Advanced Low Frequency Electromagnetic Workflows
Electrical machine noise, specifically structure-borne noise, is influenced by the converters control type, frequency, and pulse-width modulation (PWM) duty cycle. Traditional methods use transient finite element method (FEM) analysis for a complete machine period to extract excitation forces.
We introduce a faster approach using reduced models (ROM) derived from the electromagnetic and structural FEM models. This method links ROMs for the machine and housing in a system simulation environment, allowing for the rapid calculation and auralization of acoustic pressure during transient loads. By significantly reducing computation time, this method makes it possible to visualize and hear the transient noise influence of machine control.
New to system-level simulation? No worries. An introductory webinar "System Level Simulation for EM Engineers" will take place on 30.10.2025.
Join our webinar and discover:
- the pros and cons of different machine noise workflows with the Ansys products Motor-CAD, Maxwell, Mechanical and Twin Builder / Simplorer
- how to generate the electromagnetic and mechanical ROMS required for system level virbation analysis
- how to define and setup advanced system level workflows that couple multiple physical domains
